How can the best team in the league not make it to the final? How did the best team in the league with the two time MVP not make in to the final? From a Nuerolinguistic Programing (NLP) standpoint it is really quite simple. The Cavs and their coaches are more than able to physically beat any team in the NBA however their inner game is lacking. You see just like any one of us working through some personal goals while we have the ability on the outside, we do not have it on the inside. We need to build up the inside to match the outside.

What am I talking about here? in NLP we talk about congruency. The power lies in being congruent. Have you ever gone to a corporate meeting and the speaker was saying something and they came across like they were trying to convince themselves? This happens quite a bit when there is some change. Have you ever seen a television interview and the person being interviewed answered in the positive but shook there head in the negative? In the instances their physiology was not congruent. Try this right now. Articulate the word "Yes" a few times while at the same time shaking your head "No" How does that feel? A little off balanced isn't it? This is what happens when you are not congruent. That is what happened to the Cavs. They need to get their inner game congruent with their outer game. Clearly they had the outer came but because they were not congruent on the inside they could not deliver consistent good results.

As individuals it would do us well to check out congruency with any major project or goal that we are working on. With NLP that can be done very easily. With NLP you can get your body and inner language to match thus making you congruent. When you are congruent you have unlimited power to get things done. Unlimited power to get your goals. Unlimited power to get whatever you want.

Carpe Diem

Oakland Lewis
Peak Performance and Financial Coach

Live life without limits, take your visions to success now!

Rappott, who needs it anyway?

How important do you think rapport is in any relationship? I am sure you will agree that it is extremely important. Well how does a relationship start? Typically after people find out each other names after introducing themselves they immediately start to look for some sort of commonality. They may ask each other about where they grew up, what school they went to etc. They are starting to build rapport. This is the normal way but with Nuerolinguistic Programing (NLP) rapport building is taken to a whole new level and it can be extremely powerful and useful.

Let's say we have a car sales person on one side of the floor negotiating with a customer that they have not taken time to really build some rapport with and on the other side of the floor we have a sales person who has taken the to build good rapport or even quantum rapport with the client. Who do you think is more likely to get a sale? If you guess the one that built quantum rapport you would be correct. Even better who do you think will get a steady stream of referrals? Yes. You guessed it. Can you see how you could build your client base and increase your sales by practicing quantum rapport?

In a real life personal example, I had a negotiating situation with a multimillion dollar client. I had been working with him for some time and had built up a good rapport. During the course of the negotiations I told the client that I would like to bring in y leader on one of the financial meetings. I noticed he was uncomfortable with that suggestion and probed for more information. He advised me that did not hate a relationship with my leader and would rather work with me. Now bear in mind that my leader had met the client on several occasions before but clearly no rapport was built.

You may have noticed that I used the word customer for the example that did not build quantum rapport. That was done on purpose. You see a customer denotes a minimal relationship but the client on the other hand denotes a deeper relationship. With quantum rapport it is almost as if you get into the client's mind. Once you learn this you can use it in any situation. Here are a few examples:

Business Sales and Negotiations

Customer Service

Teaching

Law Enforcement

Dating

This is a very short list. Basically anything that does not require a person to be by themselves could be enhanced by quantum rapport. Here is your first tip on rapport. WE will start with matching. Next time you are speaking to someone match their posture and body gestures. Now a word of caution if you ate speaking to someone to someone who speaks with their hands don't match them when they are speaking. Do it when you start to speak :-)

Now in case you are wondering if I was able to win a renewal in the example I used above. I sure did. Next time we will discuss another technique in quantum rapport or perhaps you would like to join one of the webinars that will be held in the next several weeks. Send an email to oakland@v2snow.com for more information. To answer the original question; everyone needs rapport but quantum rapport is even better Make it a great day.

Carpe Diem!

Oakland Lewis

Peak Performance and Financial Coach

Live life without limits take your visions to success!

Rapport, who needs it anyway?

How important do you think rapport is in any relationship? I am sure that you will agree that it is extremely important. Well, how does a relationship start? Typically after people find out each others names from their introductions they immediately start to look for commonalities. They may ask each other about where they grew up, what school they went to etc. They are starting to build rapport. This is the normal way but with Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) rapport building is taken to a whole new level and it can be extremely powerful and useful. In NLP you not only build rapport on the conscious level but also on the unconscious level.

In a real life example, I had a negotiation that was coming to a close. It was a multimillion dollar client in volume. At that point in the negotiations I told the client that I would like to bring my leader in. I noticed that he was very uncomfortable with my suggestion so I probed. He advised me that he did not feel like he had a relationship with my leader and he wanted to continue the process with me. Is rapport building important? Of course it is unless you are locked in a box somewhere without human contact.

Rapport can help enhance success in the following areas:

Business Sales

Business Negotiations

Teaching

Law enforcement

Dating

This is a really short list but I am sure that you can use your imagination. In NLP there are several things that we focus on to gain rapport in record time. One such technique is called matching. Matching is where you do just that. Match the person you are communicating to. For example if you are speaking to someone who speaks with their hands, you do the same but please wait until it is your turn to speak :-)

For information on upcoming webinars on building quantum rapport send an email to oakland@v2snow.com

Make it a great day.

Carpe Diem!

Oakland Lewis

Peak Performance and Financial Coach

Live life without limits, take your visions to success!

www.v2snow.com

The two "A/s" in Success

I can spell success and I know that there are no "A/s" in the word. However, there are two things that one must do to be successful. One has to be able to adjust and be adaptable to get to our goals. I had a personal experience this past weekend that illustrates this in a simple way. My wife and I were driving our daughter to a friend's party. Since we were unfamiliar with the area I did a Mapquest. Also being eager to try out my new toy we brought along our new GPS system. Enough back up right? Well here is what happened. About 5 miles from the location we came to an orange sign. If you are in the states you know that that is not a good sign, no pun intended. In any case this sign read "bridge closed three miles ahead." My daughter and I urged my wife to drive on anyway in hopes that the destination was within the three miles. Well it wasn't. We could see the road we needed continuing beyond the construction but there was no clear path around the construction. We retraced our steps and the GPS found an alternate route but by this time my wife had had it with the GPS, the Mapquest directions and the girl’s mom on the other end of the phone who could not seem to give us clear directions around the construction. By then the tension in the car was thicker than zero visibility fog. I offered to drive from that point and when my wife did not take me up on my offer I thought it best to keep my mouth shut and sit back for the remainder of the ride. Well, my wife decided to try and figure it out herself and ended up using the alternate route that the GPS suggested anyway. So you see even with back up plans, a GPS and Mapqiuest directions we had to be adaptable because they did not pick up the "obstacle" (construction) in our path. So stay open to adjusting and be adaptable and in my case stay quite. Things always work out. I like the way Dr. Maxwell Maltz describes it in his book Psycho-Cybernetics. He talks about that cybernetic mechanism that we all have which is like a modern missile that adjust course along the way to the target but always finds the target.

Oak

Carpe Diem!

In the flow

I have been experimenting with what I call being in sync or in the flow. I had been working for weeks to get the mayor of the city to visit the toastmaster club I belong to for our twentieth year celebration to no avail. One day while not even thinking about this a thought popped into my head to make a personal in person visit to the mayor's office. I did. I spoke to the young woman who was less than helpful on the phone. She had done a total 180. She tried to be as accommodating as possible. I felt great leaving the office. However, a few days later when I telephoned her a few days later I got that all too familiar cold, not helpful reception. I stayed cordial with her and told her irregardless of the proclamation that I was trying to get she was invited to our special celebration. She hung up with no promises and I thought that I did not attain my goal. Monday morning came quickly and it was time for our celebration. While setting up the room someone called my name. I did not recognise him. He introduced himself and he was the mayor and he had come to deliver the proclamation himself. Needless to say I was very pleased especially since I am always telling people to make thingd happen. The moral of the story here is that things always work out if you take the right action at the right time. I acted immediatly when the idea hit me to make an in person visit and the result was a resounding success. Make it happen in your own lives by acting now.

Oak

Carpe Diem!

Percpective

Perspective is a very interesting thing. I remember the first time I went to Phoenix Arizona. I landed there between 9 and 10 that night and it was 110 degrees. One of the people who picked us up commented that it was actually cooling off and don't worry it was dry heat. Dry heat? Well from my perspective it did not matter if it was dry heat, wet heat or damp heat, it was HEAT. It was down right hot and for me unbearable. Can you see how our different perspectives drove our overall experience? I will give you another example. A few years ago there was a commercial on television that basically showed a young man asking a women her opinion on the engagement ring that he was purchasing for his fiance. A neighbor saw this and went rushing to his fiance's house to tell her....What do you think her version was? I am sure you guessed it :-) As we face our challenges and work on our goals, it is always a good idea to pause a bit and look at the challenge from a different perspective. You usually find the solution or at least get a different insight.

Oak

Carpe Diem!

It's A good day to be successful

Have you ever noticed that many times after completing a task that we thought was going to be difficult that we look back and realize that it was not that difficult after all?
